Our story

It started with someone we love

Orliva wasn’t dreamed up in a boardroom. It grew out of a hard year for our own family, near North Bay — and a care visit that no one saw was missed until it was too late.

An older woman’s hands holding a white teacup.

A member of our family needed help to keep living in their own home. Nothing dramatic — just everyday care: a hand with personal care, and meals prepared carefully around strict dietary needs.

So we did what thousands of families across Ontario do every year. We found a home care agency, signed the papers, and trusted them with the person we loved.

The caregivers cared. The software behind them couldn’t show them the whole person.

And they were good people. But the system they worked in was old, and our family member’s information was scattered — a little in one tool, a little in another, a little on paper. The schedule didn’t talk to the care plan. The care plan didn’t talk to the kitchen.

A woman brings a crate of fresh vegetables to an older man in his home.
Meals made around real dietary needs — one of the small, vital details that slipped between the cracks.

One day, a visit was missed. Because no one could see the whole picture in one place, the gap went unnoticed. By the time anyone realised, it was too late to undo the harm it caused — and our family is still recovering from it.

Why one suite, not one app

So we built what we wish they’d had

We kept returning to one question: how, today, could a missed visit go unseen? The answer was never the caregivers. It was software that did a single job — scheduling — while everything else about a person lived somewhere else entirely.

So Orliva isn’t just a scheduling app. It’s an entire suite of care under one name: visits, care plans, assessments, meals and dietary needs, rides, billing and the family — all on one platform, with a single record for each person. Nothing scattered. Nothing falling through the gap between systems.

  • One record per client — their whole care in one place, not spread across tools.
  • Meals and dietary needs beside the schedule and the care plan, not apart from them.
  • The full picture, so a missed visit is caught before it becomes harm.
  • The family kept in the loop, never left guessing.

We named it Orliva — living well, at home. Every part of it exists for one reason: so that no other family has to learn, too late, what their agency couldn’t see.
